Overview

The NIST AI Risk Management Framework (NIST AI RMF 1.0) is a voluntary guidance document published by the National Institute of Standards and Technology in January 2023. It provides a structured approach to identifying, assessing, and managing risks associated with AI systems throughout their lifecycle. Govern Function

Trustworthy AI Characteristics

The NIST AI RMF defines seven characteristics of trustworthy AI: accountable, explainable and interpretable, fair with harmful bias managed, privacy-enhanced, reliable and safe, secure and resilient, and transparent. Governance programs should assess each AI system against these characteristics.

The four core functions explained
